Does your child need a tutor?

Is your child struggling in one or more subjects? Is homework time painful for your family? Does your child resist you when you try to teach him or her? Have you forgotten how to do some of the math, grammar, writing, or science that your child is being assigned? Could he or she improve in skills like organization, note-taking, and test-taking strategies?

There is hope! Your student can gain the skills and confidence he or she needs, and peace can be restored to your home.

Welcome to Peak Tutoring!

My name is Lara White, and I am a licensed teacher with a Master of Arts in Teaching. I taught for 14 years and have tutored as my main profession since 2007. I love working one-on-one with preschool through college age students in Colorado Springs and anywhere in the world (online). Please check out this site for more details about my services, rates, and testimonials from parents and students. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like to set up an introductory tutoring session.

Why hire a tutor?

Parents have had me work with their children for many reasons, including:

  • To complete homework and minimize homework battles at home.
  • To improve in an area of weakness.
  • To keep skills sharp and prevent the scientifically-proven phenomenon of “summer slide” or “brain drain” over breaks.
  • To preview material over the summer in order to lay a foundation and build confidence going into a new school year.
  • To prepare for the SAT, ISEE, GCSE, or IGCSE test.
  • To help a homeschooling parent by teaching a particular subject like math.
  • To help students stay current with schoolwork from another state while living half-time in Colorado to train in ice skating

What makes Peak Tutoring different?

Customized Lessons

I tailor-make lessons to meet individual needs, instead of using a “canned” program like some learning centers. We can work on current homework or I can provide supplemental material to focus on a skill that is currently a struggle. I enjoy finding just the right resource or activity that will help get a concept across. It is so rewarding to see the “lightbulb click on” when a student successfully masters a new skill!

Flexibility

In addition to flexible lessons, I also have flexible hours and can work with students from around the world.

Professionalism & Integrity

Unlike some tutors, I am a professional teacher. I have been background checked and fingerprinted, and I carry liability insurance. I am punctual, dress professionally, and have warm rapport with kids of all ages. I communicate with parents about what happened during each session and let them know if I think their child is no longer in need of my services, so they don’t keep paying unnecessarily.
