Lara’s background and experience:
Lara has always loved working with kids. She graduated from CU Boulder with a Bachelor's degree in biology. She then taught environmental education to 4th-8th grade students at outdoor schools for three years. After moving back to Colorado, Lara earned her teacher's license and Master's degree in teaching secondary science from Colorado College. She taught middle school science in a public school for ten years. She is a vetted member of the National Test Prep Association (currently, the only SAT prep tutor in Colorado who is a member).
After having her first child in 2007, Lara quit full time teaching and started tutoring part time. She quickly discovered how much she loved working with students one-on-one to help them excel! She enjoys the relationships she gets to build with her students and their parents. Being creative while individualizing lessons to meet each student's needs is another aspect she enjoys. She started Peak Tutoring and tutors full time with students around the US and in other countries.
In her free time, Lara enjoys hiking, camping, traveling, snowboarding, and watching her kids play sports. Her husband is a middle school teacher, and they have a son and a daughter. Her beloved teaching assistant, Lincoln the Schnoodle, can usually be seen in the background of tutoring sessions.
