We’re excited to help your student grow in confidence and reach their academic goals! Here’s what you need to know about scheduling, pricing, online tutoring, and getting started with Peak Tutoring.
Pricing and Session Length
Our standard tutoring session is 45 minutes and costs $85. The fee includes individualized instruction, lesson preparation, the materials and resources we use, and a brief email summary after each session so you know how your student is progressing.
We have found 45 minutes to be the ideal tutoring session time for most students. However, if a child is in preschool or has a shorter attention span, 30 minutes may be a more appropriate amount of time. Middle or high school students might prefer a full hour or even a “double session” of 90 minutes. For shorter or longer sessions, the price is adjusted accordingly.
Scheduling and Time Commitment
A minimum of two sessions per week is recommended for struggling students, but some students work with us only once a week and others five or more times per week. It’s really up to you.
We’ll work with you to find a time for recurring sessions (such as Tuesdays at 4:30 PM). The session day/time can be adjusted if something comes up, but having a recurring time allows you and the tutor to plan around it and keep that time just for your student.
After-school and evening times are the most popular. However, daytime appointments can be an excellent option for homeschoolers or students with a free period during the school day.
You may end this arrangement at any time with two weeks’ notice, so your tutor has time to fill that slot with a new student.
Online Tutoring
Online tutoring works wonderfully for students of all ages—even our youngest learners! Students can receive individualized instruction from the comfort of home, without the time and hassle of driving to appointments.
We understand that you may wonder whether online tutoring can be as effective as in-person tutoring. We encourage you to read this blog post written by our owner, Lara: Online Tutoring Can Be More Effective Than In-Person Tutoring. She addresses common parental concerns and explains how online tutoring can actually be better than in-person sessions.
In-person tutoring may be available in select circumstances, depending on your student’s needs and the travel involved. Because travel limits the time our tutors can spend teaching other students, in-person sessions cost more.
Parents are always welcome to observe any tutoring session. We just ask that the parent is out of view of the tutor and does not interject during the lesson.
Registration
To register your child with one of our tutors, please call, email, or text Lara at 719-209-0988 or lara@peaktutoring.org.
You’ll discuss your student’s needs, which tutor would be the best fit, the tutor’s availability, and a schedule that works for your family.
Lara will then send you a registration link where you can enter your information and select your preferred payment method for automatic billing. You’ll also receive a link to review our tutoring policies, including cancellation and termination procedures, before registering.
Billing
You may pay using a credit card, debit card, or bank-to-bank ACH transfer. All payment information is securely encrypted. Families are automatically billed around the 25th of each month for sessions scheduled in the following month. If you let your tutor know that your child will not be tutoring for two weeks over winter break, they will remove those sessions from the calendar, and you will not be billed.
If you would like to see if the tutor is a good fit for your child before paying for a whole month, please let Lara know you’d like to pay for the first session only.
Getting Started
Your tutor will then reach out to introduce themselves, provide their contact information, and share the link for online sessions. If you ever have questions or scheduling conflicts, you are always welcome to contact your tutor directly.
During the first session, the tutor will spend a few minutes getting to know your student before beginning instruction. This helps your child feel comfortable and allows the tutor to build rapport. Our tutors are warm, encouraging, and skilled at connecting with students.
Communication
After each session, your tutor will send a brief email summary of what was covered and how the session went. You are welcome to reply to those emails at any time.
