Amy Miller

Amy has spent the majority of her life working with young people, from babysitting to teaching swimming lessons as a teenager to private tutoring to a 37-year career as a middle and high school English teacher. She even spent 14 summers teaching and then directing an experiential summer program for local middle schoolers. Earning her B.A. in English from The Colorado College started Amy off on a lifelong love of learning and helping others thrive as learners, too. She spent over two decades of her career teaching AP Literature and AP Language as well as American, European, and World Literature. Her professional experience included over four years of teaching 6th-8th grade English, coaching field hockey, teaching dance, and designing and teaching a variety of English courses from grammar-focused to creative writing to a variety of literature classes as well as English as a Second Language.
Following a long, rich career of teaching, Amy began her next chapter with retirement, allowing for more time with her husband, their five adult children, and three granddaughters. Although she certainly enjoys this more relaxing time of her life, she continues to help others in any way she can, from directing a local non-profit civics course to passing her English experience on to others through patient guidance and inquiry. Amy continues to find tutoring students 1:1 in writing, literature, grammar, English language, and test prep/study skills from middle school through college deeply rewarding.
In addition to her passion for education, Amy loves gardening, needlework, fitness, travel, yoga, pilates, and culinary therapy. In the spring, summer, and fall, you may even find Amy tutoring outside in her garden or on her front porch.
